Production update Nov 2010

November 28, 2010

I’ve been pretty busy after production on One Moment finished, a short film’s life only begins once it’s done and the process of submitting to festivals is just as much work! I have my fingers crossed for several festivals in 2011, I’ll keep you updated on the site as to which ones One Moment makes it into.

I’m now directing a short film that I wrote back in September called Keys (update December 2nd: title is now Sandwich). It started just as an exercise in writing for a brief (the brief being Tropfest 2011, which requires the use of the signature item ‘keys’ somewhere in the film), but then when my friend Rachel Jessican Tan showed interest in the script to produce and act in it, production started rolling and now it’s at full speed. It’s a quicker turn around than what we had for One Moment, just over a month since we deceided to do it we’ll have to shoot so that we can make it in by the Tropfest due date in January next year. At this stage we are still trying to lock in a location (inner city cafe, know any?!), and we are auditioning actors for the lead male role next week. A few of the same crew (Aleck, David, Vi, Olivia, Les and Rory at GAS) from One Moment are back, and I’m hoping we can put something together that is funny and snappy and scores enough interest from the judges to make it into the Tropfest finals.

Coming up on December 18th I’ll be helping a friend co-produce a TV pilot for a panel style show that revolves around the world of the Dreateam (fantasy football) competition held for the AFL. The pilot is being produced for Channel 31 with the hopes we go to a full series next year. Stay tuned…

And lastly I have been approached by a director and producer at YouCake Productions to write his first feature film (no pressure!), which will go into production in late 2011. The writing process has began, it will also be my first feature script so I’m pretty excited. Good things are happening, and 2011 is looking like a very busy year already.
