Unfortunately we do have to reshoot one scene, and pick up another that we dropped from the schedule and they will both be shot towards the end of April. On March 31st, Dave (DP), Rachel (Producer/Actor) and I will travel to Singapore to shoot the external shots for the Singapore scene, which we’re really looking forward to. Big thanks to Rachel’s dad who has managed to secure us free accommodation.

Coming up we have the For Evie fundraising event, featuring the boys from Rhymada playing an acoustic set, and various door prizes to be given away on the night. Please come down to Elwood Lounge in Elwood (Melbourne, Australia) on Thursday 22nd of March at 8pm. Tickets are at the door and are only $10, all proceeds go towards our post production budget.

For Evie is still on track for a finish date of before June 1st 2012, and we plan to have some stills released by then, keep an eye out!

It’s been a while since I’ve posted an update to the site, thankfully it’s because I’ve been very busy with several projects on the go. I’ve finally reached the time that I can reveal two of them, and they are equally exciting as both deal with web video. Britta Drevermann has created the concept behind [twoseveneight], which is an online video mag that covers independent artists such as filmmakers, musicians, artists and everyone else who fits in between. An issue will go live each month, and will feature a primary interview, a review, and a quick q’n'a style chat. You’ll be able to watch all three or a specially edited video that combines them all. I’m on board as a director of the series, and also helping her put together each issue.

The other project I have been working on and this is relatively new is an entry to the Movie Extra Webfest competition, where you have to make a 1 minute trailer for a fictional 7 part web series. The winner gets $50,000 t0 turn that trailer into a full series. It’s a pretty exciting competition and highlights the importance of the web and the role it’s now playing in the contemporary media landscape. Audiences must vote on the video entries through Facebook and the votes are open as soon as the video is uploaded and accepted. My entry is called Irresponsible Service of Alcohol, and it’s a crazy quirky comedy like the film Shaun of the Dead (but without the zombies) and is based on my experiences as a bartender working at different pubs. People who work in the hospitality should be able to relate to the little inside jokes I hope to include. The trailer will work as a quick introduction to the characters and the setup as we follow Tom on his first night in a new job.

Make sure you check the substation media Facebook page and also this website for further updates or for more information. And when the Movie Extra Webfest entry is uploaded please vote!

Cheers,

Rob Innes.

This week Footy Tragic will air it’s fourth episode (3oth June, 2011), after a great start the ratings have continued to climb each week. Produced by Steve Greenwood and directed by Mark Mathews (I’m assistant director to Mark), the show is based around a panel who talk and discuss all topics relating to the AFL Dreamteam and Supercoach competitions. The show is directly linked to the website (www.footytragic.com) that features player search functions, articles and tips. Footy Tragic is currently recorded live to tape in the Channel 31 studios, but will within the next few weeks go live to air -a first for many of the cast and crew.

Make sure you tune in each Thursday night to catch the latest updates, discussions, and guests who will help you score the highest points in the respective AFL competitions (and also for a bit of fun!).

Check out the Footy Tragic website for more information.
